Winnipeg Police CrestA Winnipeg police officer pulled a woman from the Red River on June 30 after she was standing in the water about 12 feet from shore.

Police say the report came in at around 8:30 a.m. for the woman in the water near Bishop Grandin Boulevard and River Road.

The officer attempted to talk to the woman, but she was uncommunicative. Additional police units arrived and the woman was eventually brought back to shore safely.

Police say the river is a hazardous place even in normal conditions, with high water levels, fast moving current and additional debris.
