New entrance procedures will be in effect this year when music fans show up to the Winnipeg Folk Festival to camp beginning next Wednesday.
Campers arriving to Birds Hill Park will be queuing up in the festival parking area — not the festival campground parking area — and getting their wristbands at the main box office. Using a larger staging area and our bigger Box Office will help get campers into the campground more quickly.
Volunteers will guide vehicles from a staging area into one of six ticket lanes to the box office, where campers are asked to stay in their cars in order to keep the lines moving quickly. Volunteers will come to vehicles and exchange tickets for wristbands. Campers will then follow the signs to Festival Drive where a traffic volunteer will direct them to park in the festival campground parking lot.
Campers are reminded not to line up on Highway 59 before 7 a.m. After 7 a.m., campers can drive through the West Gate. The East Gate does not open until 10 a.m.
