Take Pride Winnipeg! is launching its annual Green Wave program today, employing 14 youth aged 16 to 19 for the summer months.
The program is a partnership with the City of Winnipeg and BFI Canada to keep city neighbourhoods clean all season long. In addition, special event days are planned each summer for special projects outside of BIZ zones.
Youth will be involved in such as activities as litter pickup, graffiti removal, planter maintenance and park restoration.
Following the launch at William Osler Park this morning, the Green Wave team will paint a park buildings and benches, while helping local children put their handprints on the wall. A litter cleanup of the area will also take place.
