RCMP Crest LogoA 40-year-old man has drowned after a fishing trip on Clearwater Lake with family.

RCMP from The Pas were called out on Saturday evening at around 6 p.m. to where the boat was located, about 1/4 mile from the shore. Police say the man dove off the boat to go swimming, but never returned to the surface.

His body was recovered roughly an hour later and transported to The Pas Health Complex. Emergency personnel were unable to resuscitate him.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor and police continue to investigate.

The man’s name isn’t being released.
