Manitobans will defend their title as Slurpee Capital of the World for the 15th consecutive year on Friday.

That’s when 7-Eleven will be celebrated its 45th anniversary with a nationwide Slurpee giveaway.

“The Slurpee run is a large part of Slurpee history so it’s something we want to celebrate. What better way to do it than with a free Slurpee run on 7-Eleven’s birthday,” said Raj Kapoor, vice-president and GM of 7-Eleven Canada.

Stores will be offering 12oz Slurpee drinks between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Friday, July 11, or while stocks last.

Manitoba has retained the top spot over other popular Slurpee-drinking markets including Calgary and Detroit, with residents here consuming the highest average number of Slurpee cups sold per store in a region.
