Winnipeg Police Warn of New Scammer Targeting Seniors

July 16, 2014 1:43 PM | News

Winnipeg Police CrestWinnipeg Police say they have been made aware of a man posing as a bank employee scamming seniors in the city.

Police said the man approaches seniors and asks them to withdraw a large sum of money as “part of an investigation” he is doing in secret and has them meet him at a different location other than the bank. He then promises to put the money back into their account, but of course, doesn’t do so. The whole process is done under the guise of “keeping the investigation confidential.”

Anyone who has been targeted by this man is asked to call police at (204) 986-6231.
