The Winnipeg Art Gallery is looking for a new curator.
The gallery said Tuesday they are launching a search for a new Curator of Contemporary Art after the current curator, Paul Butler, decided to step down from his post, effective August 21.
“Paul Butler’s tenure as Curator of Contemporary Art over the last year and a half has been an exciting time for the WAG and somewhat of a curatorial experiment,” said CEO Dr. Stephen Borys. “As an individual primarily recognized for his artistic career rather than his curatorial work, this was a bold move by the WAG, and it brought new perspectives to our exhibition program and outreach.”
Borys said the WAG looks forward to continuing to work with Butler on upcoming projects as Butler returns to his studio.
