Manitoba’s top soccer official is being inducted into the Canadian Soccer Hall of Fame.

Héctor Vergara is the executive director of the Manitoba Soccer Association (MSA) and a former FIFA official.

Vergara will be inducted on November 9 in Vaughan, Ontario in the builder category to recognize the contributions he has made to the game of soccer throughout Canada.

“This year we will be honouring six extraordinary Canadians, two soccer organizations and one team of distinction that have made an impact on the sport of soccer in our country,” the Hall of Fame committee said in a release.

Vergara played soccer competitively for 10 years and recreationally for 30 years before returning his focus on the game to officiating.
