A 35-year-old woman was sexually assaulted Friday on the south side riverbank of the Assiniboine River downtown.
Winnipeg police say the woman was socializing with a group of people near the Midtown Bridge on Donald Street when the group dispersed in the early morning hours.
The woman walked to a wooded area and was confronted by an unknown man. The victim was incapacitated, at which time she lost consciousness and was seriously sexually assaulted.
The victim fought back and cried for help, sending police to be notified and tend to the scene.
The suspect is described as aboriginal in appearance, approximately 35 years-old, 170 lbs., short/black unkempt hair, pocked marked face, slight moustache, wearing dark clothing and white runners.
