The wheels of jazz will be rollin’ through Winnipeg neighbourhoods this weekend.
The popular Jazz on Wheels program will hit the road with two performances set for Saturday and Sunday.
The mobile jazz presentation is led and directed by the University of Manitoba’s Steve Kirby and produced by Jazz Winnipeg. This year’s performances will be by students of the newly-launched Jazz on Wheels Performance Academy, which offers supported learning settings where young musicians are imbedded in a band of mentoring professionals.
The first performance on Saturday, August 9 will be from 2-3 p.m. at Summer Fest (Orioles Community Centre, 448 Burnell Street). The second performance on Sunday, August 10 will be at the Austin Street Festival (North Point Douglas Women’s Centre, 221 Austin Street North) from 3-4 p.m.
