Winnipeg police closed in on two marijuana grow-ops this week in the south end of the city, seizing thousands of plants in excess of $2 million.
Officers executed the first search warrant on Burnhill Bay in Richmond West on Wednesday, where they found 1,006 marijuana plants, 100 grams of dry marijuana, and grow operation equipment.
The total value of the seizure is around $1,149,720.
A 43-year-old man was taken into custody at the scene without incident and is facing numerous drug-related charges.
Police executed a second search warrant later in the day in the 100 block of Southbridge Drive, seizing 1,075 marijuana plants, 109 grams of dry marijuana and grow operation equipment.
No one was located inside the home and the value of the seizure is estimated at $1,228,090.
On Thursday, police caught up with two suspects and arrested a 52-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman for their alleged involvement. They’re also facing numerous drug-related charges.
Police say in both cases, the theft of both hydro and water was occurring.
All three have been released on promises to appear.
