Two Manitoba Teens Rescued After Canoe Goes Adrift

RCMP Crest LogoTwo teen girls were rescued by helicopter on Thursday after becoming separated from their group on a canoe trip.

The girls, a 14-year-old from Winnipeg and 16-year-old from East St. Paul, were on Elbow Lake near the Ontario border when they went missing.

The pair was last seen by their fellow campers at around 4:30 p.m. when they went to pick berries.

RCMP were called in at 9:30 p.m. and began a search and rescue operation. Crews spotted the girls on a rock ledge at around 7 a.m. this morning within one kilometre of their camp northeast of Lac du Bonnet.

No injuries were reported.
