‘HerbFest’ at Assiniboine Park on Sunday

August 15, 2014 3:56 PM | Entertainment

A herb festival at Assiniboine Park on Sunday will show people how they can use herbs in growing their garden.

The Assiniboine Park Conservancy and the Herb Society of Manitoba have partnered for HerbFest 2014 from noon to 4:30 p.m.

“This year’s HerbFest theme is ‘Herbs Around the Home’,” said Gerald Dieleman, APC director of horticulture. “Manitobans love spending time growing plants and herbs during the summer months. We want to show people how they can use the herbs in their growing garden and help them identify herbs they may not have realized they had.”

Activities include an event tent with the Herb Society plant, baked goods and lemonade sale, crafts for kids and tours of the herb garden.

From 1-1:45 p.m., Louise May of Aurora Farms will present on the topic of using herbs in and around your home.

The Assiniboine Park Conservancy will hold its own aromatherapy with herbs presentation from 3-3:45 p.m. in the Assiniboine Park Conservancy.

The event is free and open to the public.
