Winnipeg police pulled a body from the Red River on Sunday, just days after a man was seen in the same body of water.
Divers were already at the Alexander Docks at around 1:30 p.m. when a vacationing Alberta man and his son came upon the discovery.
Police couldn’t say whether the body is that of a man who went under Friday afternoon. He is presumed drowned.
An off-duty police officer and the operator of a water taxi attempted to rescue the man near the Provencher Bridge, but were unsuccessful. During the rescue, the captain of the boat had a heart attack and needed medical attention of his own. He’s currently recovering at the St. Boniface Hospital.
The homicide unit is now investigating and no further details have been released.
