The president of the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) will be in Winnipeg on Monday to meet with Premier Greg Selinger.
Dan Kelly will also meet with Theresa Oswald, Minister for Jobs and the Economy, to discuss issues concerning small businesses in Manitoba.
Issues to be raised include the province’s support for increased pension payroll taxes, shortage of qualified labour, interprovincial trade, and Manitoba’s provincial taxation environment.
“CFIB’s business barometer shows optimism levels amongst Manitoba small business owners is consistently much lower than levels seen in the other Western provinces,” said Kelly. “Easier interprovincial trade and lower taxes are just a few examples of what is needed to reverse Manitoba’s growing competitive disadvantage.”
