Rogers Communications and Shaw Communications have teamed up to launch a new video-streaming service, taking on rival Netflix for the on-demand video market.
Priced at $8.99 per month for a subscription, shomi will be available on tablet, mobile, online, Xbox 360 and set top boxes.
The first beta will be open to Rogers and Shaw Internet and TV customers, with service available the first week of November.
shomi will feature popular TV shows and cult-classics from the past, including such titles as Modern Family, Sons of Anarchy, Sleepy Hollow, Shameless, 2 Broke Girls, Vikings, New Girl, 24: Live Another Day, Chicago Fire, The Strain, and American Horror Story.

Media reports say both companies have signed deals worth more than $100 million with the top U.S. movie studios and distributors.
