Behind the Folk Festival Scenes: Grace & Tony

Summer may be coming to a close, but the Winnipeg Folk Festival is keeping the tunes going with backstage exclusives.

Shot at this year’s festival back in July, musicians Grace and Tony recorded Adam of Labour with Chris Wilson (cello) and Kimmi Sampson (violin) as a four-piece.

Grace was raised on southern gospel and bluegrass and Tony grew up playing punk, honing his musical chops with his brother John Paul White of The Civil Wars. They started jamming, mixing folk, bluegrass, Texas swing and punk and the result is, what they call, “punkgrass.”
