Winnipeg Police CrestWinnipeg police said the attempted abduction of a 12-year-old girl on Washington Street didn’t happen.

The girl originally said a man approached her from behind while she was walking in Elmwood at about 5 p.m. on Monday and grabbed her. She managed to kick free, she said, and run home.

“After considerable investigation by members of the Child Abuse Unit it was determined that the events surrounding the incident were not as initially reported and that the attempt abduction incident is unfounded,” said police.
