Two Winnipeg men who ventured out on a hike Saturday ended up needing to be rescued.
RCMP say one of the two men became injured while hiking on the Mantario Trail — a 63 kilometre-long trail in southeastern Manitoba that meanders through the Canadian Shield.
Police were dispatched at around 3 a.m. after the men called for help as night fell and the weather worsened.
Manitoba Conservation and Water Stewardship responded, along with help from a float plane from Venture Air in Lac du Bonnet.
The hikers were eventually located on Ritchie Lake at around 4 p.m.
RCMP say if you are planning on a hiking trip always ensure someone knows when you are leaving and when you are expected to arrive at your destination.
