The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have bid farewell to defensive back Alex Suber in exchange for a DL from the Toronto Argonauts.
Thaddeus Gibson will wear blue and gold with the Bombers and played in five games with the Argos this season, three of which he had a start. The Ohio State product recorded six tackles, one sack and one interception.
“Thaddeus has professional football experience on both sides of the border, has shown great promise when he’s had opportunities to get in the lineup, and will add depth to our defensive line immediately,” said Bombers general manager Kyle Walters.
Gibson was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 4th round (116th overall) in the 2010 NFL Draft, and spent four years in the NFL. He played for the San Francisco 49ers, where he totalled three tackles in two games, and also spent time with the Houston Texans, Chicago Bears, Tennessee Titans, and was most recently a member of the Dallas Cowboys.
Suber joined the Bombers in 2010, but had not dressed for a game this season.
The football club thanked him for his service both on and off the field in a statement.
