A 29-year-old man from Opaskwayak Cree Nation died after rolling his vehicle and becoming submerged in a water-filled ditch on Monday.
RCMP say the crash happened on Highway 297 (Cormorant Lake Road), approximately 25 km east of the turn at Clearwater Lake.
The eastbound SUV lost control, rolled and landed on its roof in the south ditch at around 9 a.m.
The 20-year-old Cormorant man riding as the passenger was able to escape, while the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Alcohol is considered to be a factor in the collision and police continue to investigate.
