Toronto Cyclist Killed in Western Manitoba Crash

RCMP Crest LogoA 24-year-old cyclist from Toronto was killed Monday evening after being struck by a SUV just west of Brandon, Manitoba on Highway 1A.

RCMP say the man was travelling eastbound in the same direction as the vehicle when he was hit at around 8 p.m.

The rider was taken to hospital and pronouned deceased.

The 28-year-old female driver and her three passengers — all from Sioux Valley First Nation — were not injured in the collision.

Police say it’s unclear whether the cyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Alcohol is not considered a factor.

Brandon police and RCMP continue to investigate.
