Arrest Made After Women Groped on Winnipeg Transit

Winnipeg Police CrestWinnipeg police have made an arrest after two women were groped in separate incidents while riding public transit on Monday.

The first incident occurred at around 10:15 a.m. in the area of Portage Avenue and Balmoral Street when the victim was approached by an unknown man and groped in the lower body. The woman moved seats and reported the assault to police.

The second incident happened in the Polo Park area on a westbound bus at around 12:30 p.m. on Portage Avenue.

A 54-year-old man matching the description given by both victims was arrested later in the day.

He has been charged with two counts of sexual assault and was released on a promise to appear.
