The student population at the University of Winnipeg is nearing the 10,000 mark to begin the fall/winter 2014 term.
The U of W says 9,348 undergraduate and 138 graduate students are enrolled this year. The largest growth area is graduate degree programs, with a 16 percent increase in students pursuing a Master’s degree compared to last year.
“Over the past several years, UWinnipeg has grown steadily and has achieved a stable enrolment in and around 10,000, which really allows for a high quality experience for students with comfortable class sizes and meaningful professor interaction,” said Dr. Annette Trimbee, president and vice-chancellor, UWinnipeg.
The international student body is up 3.5 percent from last year to 537 students from 519. First year students self-identifying as aboriginal makes up just over 10 percent of the campus population.
