Two Winnipeg residents are being accused by the Manitoba Securities Commission of engaging in market manipulation of shares in Benton Resources Corp.
The MSC says Janice Thoroski and Clair Calvert traded in Benton by up-ticking and spoofing shares to mislead trading activity or artificially inflate the price to manipulate the market.
Staff of the MSC is seeking to have Thoroski and Calvert cease trading and prohibited from acting as a director or officer of an issuer. Neither party has been registered under the Securities Act of Manitoba.
The allegations have not been proven in and a hearing is scheduled for September 17.
