A pregnant woman walking with her mother in downtown Winnipeg on Saturday was robbed of her purse.
Police say the 30-year-old victim was in the area of Qu’Appelle Avenue and Carlton Street at around 1 a.m. when the robbery occurred.
The victim was approached by an unknown man who asked her if she wanted to buy drugs. When she declined and continued to walk away, the suspect grabbed her purse and attempted to steal it. A brief struggle ensued and the suspect made off with the item.
The woman suffered minor injuries in the robbery.
Police were able to track down the suspect at around 6 a.m. the same day and make an arrest. Joseph Frederick Pelletier, 35, of Lake Manitoba First Nation was arrested and detained in custody. He has been charged with robbery.
