Manitoba Bisons Recruit Two for 2015 Football Season

University of Manitoba BisonsThe Manitoba Bisons have recruited two high school football players for the 2015 season.

Defensive lineman Derek Dufault and Ontario receiver Lerenzo Brandon Ihanza will suit up for the Herd in about a year from now.

“We are very pleased, happy and honoured that both Derek and Lerenzo have made commitment to the University of Manitoba,” said head coach Brian Dobie. “They both had numerous options but they did their homework and were secure and confident about the university and the Bisons.”

Dufault, 16, is completing high school at Dakota Collegiate in Winnipeg. He played with the Dakota Lancers for the last three seasons and was listed in CanadaFootballChat (CFC) Top 100 for class of 2015.

The 6’2”, 227 lbs. player registered 32 tackles, 10 sacks, two forced fumbles, one safety, one block in eight regular season games.

Ihanza, 17, is finishing high school at St. Edmund Campion in Brampton, Ontario and plays wide receiver and kick return specialist. He played with the St. Edmund Campion Bears as well as the Oakville Titans plus North Halton Crimson Tide of the Ontario Football Conference (OFC)

The 6’2”, 190 lbs. player scored eight touchdowns (six receiving and two rushing) with St. Edmund.

The Bisons play their first home game of the 2014 season this Friday when they host the University of Regina Rams at Investors Group Field. Game time is 7 p.m.
