Man Charged After String of Winnipeg Break and Enters

Winnipeg Police CrestWinnipeg police have arrested and charged a man after a series of break-ins going back to March.

Police say between March 28 and July 7, three commercial buildings and one residence were hit. Police also discovered a historical break-in related to the case dating back to August 7, 2001.

The total damage estimated is $5,000, with approximately $3,650 of goods stolen.

Investigators enlisted the help of the forensic identification unit and a suspect was identified.

On September 14, Roland Charles Sutherland, 43, of Winnipeg was arrested by RCMP in Lundar, Manitoba. Winnipeg police picked up Sutherland the following day and brought him back to the city.

He faces five counts of break, enter and theft, and six counts of failing to comply with a recognizance.

He remains in custody.
