Manitoba Public Insurance is warning the public about a fake customer survey making the rounds.
MPI says customers may notice a pop-up window in their Internet browser in the form of an advertisement.
“This is an adware-generated survey and has no association with our company,” said MaryAnn Kempe with MPI.
Kempe says customers should not respond to the survey, nor should they ever share personal information.
The survey encourages people to complete the survey with a promise of a gift worth more than $50 and is intended to generate traffic and sales leads for dubious sites.
MPI does conduct customer-satisfaction polling, but surveys are not conducted via e-mail.
