A fundraiser Saturday afternoon at Grant Park High School will support those participating in sport while restricted to a wheelchair.
The Manitoba Wheelchair Sport Association (MWSA) is holding the 2014 MWSA Wheel-a-thon in support of wheelchair sports in Manitoba.
From 9 a.m. to noon, teams of four will race in heats (4 x 400 m relay) on the outdoor track. The event is open to people of all abilities and the MWSA will provide participants with sport wheelchairs.
MWSA’s programs include wheelchair basketball, wheelchair rugby, and junior wheelchair sports. Funds raised from the Wheel-a-thon will directly support athletes in Manitoba as they pursue their dreams of sport excellence or their aspirations to be physically active.
Team registration is $50, with each group encouraged to raise $200. Donations of $20 or more will receive a tax receipt.
