Traffic Stop in Portage Nets RCMP Cocaine, Cash

RCMP Crest LogoFailing a stop at a stop sign led to RCMP discovering 24 grams of cocaine in a vehicle in Portage la Prairie on September 18.

Officers on patrol pulled over a 2006 Dodge Charger on Royal Road North at around 10 p.m. for the traffic infraction.

Upon further investigation, police found the lone occupant to be in possession of the drug, along with a sum of cash.

Travis William Lewadniuk, 23, of Portage la Prairie was arrested and is facing drug-related charges.

He appeared in court on Monday.

Police continue to investigate.
