Teens Arrested in Burglary, Car Theft Spree

Winnipeg Police CrestFive teens are facing charges for their alleged involvement in a string of vehicle break-ins and thefts.

Winnipeg police say between July 21 and September 22, three homes and three vehicles were broken into. The teens also stole the vehicles once gaining access to the residences on Bachman Bay, Currie Crescent and Greenhoven Crescent.

Police spotted a stolen Toyota Tacoma on September 22 at around 3 a.m. in the area of Notre Dame Avenue and Arlington Street. The vehicle was pulled over and the occupants were arrested without incident, including a suspect who had a can of bear spray on them.

Police have charged a 15-year-old boy and 14-year-old girl, who have since been released on promises to appear for lesser charges.

Two 16-year-old boys and another 15-year-old boy remain in custody at the Manitoba Youth Centre.
