RCMP Crest LogoStatistics released by Manitoba RCMP show 30 people were killed in 28 collisions over the summer months.

RCMP say the number of deaths is actually down compared to the same period last year, measuring from Victoria Day to the Labour Day long weekend. In 2013, 51 people were killed in 43 crashes.

During that time, officers also issued approximately 10,000 traffic tickets, with an estimated 6,300 of those for speeding.

Police also charged 489 people with impaired driving-related offences, and issued 263 alcohol and drug-related administrative suspensions.

RCMP are reminding motorists to drive within the speed limit, buckle up, drive sober and be aware of your surroundings while behind the wheel.
