A United Nations delegation of women will march to the University of Winnipeg today to begin “gender toolkit” training.
The UN-mandated session will begin after the peacekeepers make their way from the Manitoba legislature at 1:45 p.m. to the U of W’s Wesley Hall on Portage Avenue.
The delegates are in Winnipeg for the International Association of Women Police conference.
Marilou McPhedran, director of the Institute for International Women’s Rights at UWinnipeg’s Global College, invited the women to campus and will also be a guest lecturer to serve as an expert advisor in the closed sessions.
Training will resume on Tuesday, September 30 and is being backed by more than 30 volunteers, including French rapporteurs from UWinnipeg and the University of St. Boniface.
Proudly welcoming the world to #Winnipeg for @IAWP2014. Enjoy your time in our beautiful city! http://t.co/ry1GIMIMjL pic.twitter.com/oATrGfxqzj
