A veteran Manitoba RCMP officer from Arborg is facing charges of sexual assault and sexual interference.
“D” Division RCMP requested the Brandon Police Service assume jurisdiction over an ongoing investigation on September 27 regarding the officer.
The incident involves a nine-year-old victim and is said to have occurred in Ashern, Manitoba on September 26. The officer, who has 26 years of service, was not on duty at the time of the alleged offence.
The 55-year-old man was arrested this past Sunday and was later released on a promise to appear in court on November 19.
To protect the victim’s identity, the officer’s name isn’t being released.
