Manitoba RCMP are warning of a prescription medication scam that occurred in the Selkirk area.
On Tuesday, a 70-year-old woman received a knock at her door from a man informing her of a recall on her medication. The suspect was wearing fraudulent identification from a local pharmacy and requested the woman turn over the prescriptions.
The victim was duped into handing over two weeks’ worth of medication.
Upon calling the pharmacy to verify the request, the victim was told the man wasn’t an employee.
Anyone with information on the scam is asked to contact Selkirk RCMP at (204) 482-1222 or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477
