A Winnipeg man has been charged after police say he broke into an underground parking garage and damaged several vehicles.
Police were called to the 1st 100 block of Arden Avenue on Monday at around 1 a.m. for a report of a break-in.
The suspect allegedly broke into the apartment block’s parkade and damaged the windows of 12 vehicles, stealing property from two of them.
The building’s caretaker and another person were able to hold the suspect down for police.
It’s believed the suspect was responsible for a similar incident nearby shortly before being caught. Sixteen vehicles were damaged and had property stolen from them in the 100 block of Pulberry Street. In a related manner, an underground package garage was compromised.
Sean Mark O’Handley, 37, is facing numerous charges and remains in custody.
The estimated total damage to the vehicles is $30,000.
