WINNIPEG — University of Manitoba Bisons volleyball coach Garth Pischke is just two wins away from breaking an all-time coaching record.
The head of the men’s squad will look to break the North American match record this weekend when Regina visits Winnipeg on Friday and Saturday.
Pischke currently sits at 1,238 wins and is in his 33rd year at the Bisons’ helm. He is closing in on the coaching win record recently set by UCLA coach Al Scates, when he completed his 50-year coaching career in the 2012 season with a stunning mark of 1,239-290 (.810).
However, Pischke already holds the record for most overall coaching wins by a CIS (Canadian Interuniversity Sport) head coach in history.
The Bisons-Cougars tilts are Friday at 8 p.m. and Saturday at 3 p.m. at Investors Group Athletic Centre.
