Two Winnipeg police officers, who tried to break up a fight between two men, were assaulted themselves on Tuesday night.
Police responded to the call in the 500 block of Boyd Avenue at around 10:15 p.m., where they say two intoxicated men were having a consensual fight.
One of the men became belligerent with officers and assaulted one of them. The second officer tried to intervene, but was grabbed by the second man.
Police were eventually able to subdue both of the suspects and make arrests. Both officers received treatment for non-life threatening injuries in hospital.
Ranee Chester Thomas Green and Ricky Leslie Green, both 28 of Winnipeg, have each been charged with two counts of assaulting a peace officer.
They remain in custody.
