WINNIPEG — The Manitoba Bisons women’s basketball team is warming up for the season with a set of charity games this weekend.
The team will host the eighth annual Shoot for the Cure invitational at Investors Group Athletic Centre tonight through Sunday to raise money and awareness for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF).
“We’re excited to bring in two out of town teams, so it will be nice to wrap up our pre-season at home,” said Bisons head coach Michele Hynes.
Jamestown College and UNBC will play in the non-conference invitational, along with the University of Winnipeg Wesmen and the hosting Bisons.
“This is always an special weekend as this program has been involved in this initiative for raising awareness and money for breast cancer since the inception,” Hynes added.
Ticket proceeds will go toward the cause, plus limited edition pink T-shirts will be sold for $10.
