Fionn MacCool'sA new Irish pub and eatery has opened in Winnipeg, adding to the food and retail options in the bustling area of Regent Avenue West.

Fionn MacCool’s served its first customers on Sunday, and includes an innovative draft lineup featuring local offerings, made in-house food and live entertainment.

“Fionn MacCool’s is about great food, great drinks and great times in a relaxed atmosphere,” said franchisee Paul Belanger, who was a chef at Earls for 20 years.

The restaurant and pub is located at 1582 Regent Avenue West at the site of the former Kelsey’s restaurant, which closed following a fire last year.

The menu serves up nearly 40 types of beer on tap and in bottle, a wide selection of new and old school cocktails, 31 whiskies and 20 varieties of wine.

“Fionn MacCool’s has amped the wattage on the pub experience. Combining our warm, fun pubs with premium food and beverage offerings and party programming has taken the pub experience to new heights which is driving our popularity and growth across Canada,” said Grant Cobb, SVP for Cara Operations Ltd. “We’re excited to bring our first pub open to Winnipeg and we look forward to opening additional locations across Manitoba in the years to come.”

The chain’s addition to the city builds on its other Canadian locations in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario and Quebec.
