The “S” word is still widely forbidden, but the realities of snow falling before Halloween is looking more likely.
Thankfully when it does fall, Winnipeggers should be ready for it. That’s where Mountain Equipment Co-op comes in, with their annual MEC Snowfest event.
Held on Saturday, November 8 at MEC, the day will include workshops surrounding the winter weather, product vendors, community groups and prize draws.
“The event is intended to get people excited about outdoor self-propelled winter activity, help them prepare, and connect them with the equipment they’ll need,” said Michael Lucenkiw, coordinator of MEC Snowfest 2014. “We live in a winter city. Why suffer through it, when you can celebrate it?”
The latest winter gear and clothing will be on display, along with free hot chocolate, coffee, cookies, and vendor samples for visitors. Workshops will focus on winter cycling, running in winter, snowshoeing, and ski waxing.
MEC Snowfest will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at MEC, located at 303 Portage Avenue.
