Those who can’t make the trip to Churchill to visit the polar bears are taking in the sights online.

Frontiers North Adventures has teamed up with Polar Bears International and explore.org to bring a livestream of the northern Manitoba community to the world as part of Polar Bear Week, November 2-8.

Using cameras mounted to the tundra buggies, the images show the habitat as the bears wait for the freeze-up on Hudson Bay.

Besides the live webcam, there are special live webcasts with scientists, researchers and bear experts.

The livestream can be viewed at explore.org. Visitors are also being encouraged to sign PBI’s Petition for Polar Bears.
