Hajrullahu Singled Out for Blue Bombers Award Honours

Winnipeg Blue Bombers LogoA handful of Winnipeg Blue Bombers picked up team honours on Wednesday — most notably rookie kicker Lirim Hajrullahu.

Hajrullahu collected most outstanding rookie, most outstanding Canadian and most outstanding special teams awards.

First year starting quarterback Drew Willy was named the club’s most outstanding player. Willy started 17 of 18 games, missing one due to injury, and currently sits second in the CFL in passing yardage with 3,769.

Tackle Glenn January was awarded the team’s most outstanding offensive lineman award for the third year in a row. The two-time Division All-Star is in his eighth CFL season and sixth with the Bombers.

Defensive back Maurice Leggett earned the club’s most outstanding defensive player award.

Players were selected by voting members of the Football Reporters of Canada (FRC) and the CFL head coaches.

The East and West Division winners for the 2014 CFL Awards will be announced on Thursday, November 13 at 11 a.m. CT. The 2014 CFL Awards will be handed out on Thursday, November 27 at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver, B.C.
