The history of the Winnipeg Falcons will be on display Thursday as part of a new segment produced for a Heritage Minute.
The public screening will air during the first intermission of the Winnipeg Jets — Pittsburgh Penguins game at MTS Centre.
The Winnipeg Falcons Heritage Minute explores the story of a team of Icelandic-Canadians who served in the First World War before bringing home the very first gold medal in Olympic hockey. The team was founded in 1911 made up entirely of Icelandic players, who couldn’t otherwise play on teams due to ethnic prejudice at the time.
Historica Canada produced the minute along with Calgary-based Corkscrew Media and Stir Films.
