November 6, 2014 12:43 PM | News

Winnipeg Police CrestWinnipeg police put numerous resources to use on Wednesday in what turned out to be a false alarm.

Officers swarmed a home in the 300 block of Flora Avenue after a report of someone inside being shot.

The canine unit, Air 1 and members of the tactical support team responded at around 7:25 p.m.

Once verbal contact was made with a distraught man inside, police entered the home and arrested a 62-year-old man.

Police say no firearm was discharged and no one was injured, revealing the man made a false report to police.

Police also say the suspect was intoxicated while displaying aggressive, non-compliant behaviour toward officers.

Larry Dwayne McCloy has been charged with public mischief and remains in custody.
