A new gird card-swapping service is expanding into Canada, providing another outlet for shoppers to sell unwanted gift cards.

GiftCardBin, Inc. allows consumers to receive cash for their unwanted cards at local retail locations and sells discounted gift cards through their website.

“We have reached a new milestone over this past year by formulating strategic partnership that has allowed us to expand our services into Canada,” said Michelle Kille, director of operations for GiftCardBin. “As we head into 2015, we will continue to enhance the guest experience of our website, while continuing to expand our presence in new Canadian neighborhoods.”

The initial group of retail locations are currently open in Toronto’s major metropolitan regions, with additional locations expanding across Canada by January 2015.

Winnipeg will see the service offered in the spring, along with Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, Mississauga, Montreal and Vancouver.

Before the end of this year, GiftCardBin will also expand to Hamilton, Kitchener, London, Mississauga, Niagara, Waterloo and Windsor.

A similar Canadian service, CardSwap, currently holds market share in the gift card arena.
