Downtown Winnipeg will be feeling mighty festive on Saturday as Santa and his reindeer pay the city a visit.

The 105th annual Winnipeg Santa Claus Parade will roll down 17 street blocks, spreading holiday cheer as the big guy prepares for his busiest time of the year.

Festivities begin at 2:30 p.m. with a free performance by Camarata Nova in the atrium of the Manitoba Hydro Building.

Block parties start at 4 p.m., hosted by numerous organizations with entertainment, mascots, musicians and street hockey. The parade officially begins at 5 p.m.

New to the parade this year is pyrotechnics displays along the parade route. They are called close proximity pyrotechnics and don’t have the noise level of fireworks.

Those attending are encouraged to share their photos and experiences on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram using the hashtag #wpgsantaparade.

The full parade route can be mapped out by visiting WinnipegSantaParade.com.
