Security Guards Maced, Tasered at Westwood Restaurant

Winnipeg Police CrestWINNIPEG — Three people have been charged after an assault on security staff at a restaurant in the 400 block of Westwood Drive.

Winnipeg police were called to the Smitty’s Restaurant Saturday at around 12:30 a.m. after the patrons were kicked out for being intoxicated, rude and belligerent with staff.

While being escorted by security, one of the suspects released pepper spray on two security guards, while a female suspect Tasered one of them.

Security was still able to control the situation and hold the suspects for police.

Alvin Mason, 44, and Sheena Gagnon, 28, both from Winnipeg, face a list of charges, including assault with a weapon.

A 21-year-old man was also arrested and faces unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon, and possession of a weapon charges. He was released on a promise to appear.
