Manitoba curler Mike McEwen presented a substantial donation to the Movember Winnipeg committee Monday as raised from the the 2014 Men of Curling calendar this past year.
McEwen was featured as the November calendar boy, sporting his moustache. The curler superstar joins other men this month supporting the cause to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health research and programs.
A total of $16,400 was raised through calendar sales, going directly to men’s health initiatives.
“To have Mike McEwen and his entire curling team be such respected and participatory spokespeople is amazing,” said Movember Winnipeg co-chair Jeff Palson. “Mike has brought a very public face to our cause, and we cannot thank him enough for his amazing contributions.”
McEwen made the cheque presentation during a news conference at the Fort Rouge Curling Club.
